Six (6) PhD Scholarships, Bishop Grosseteste University, UK (2016)

As part of our strategy for research, innovation and development, Bishop Grosseteste University is investing in full-time PhD studentships. These will be awarded to candidates who can demonstrate their academic achievement and future research potential. Commencing in Spring 2016, candidates will have the opportunity to work alongside BGU’s world leading academics for up to four years.

BGU will also be able to provide a bursary of up to £14,000 and payment of PhD tuition fees.

Studentship Eligibility Criteria
The minimum entry requirement for a research degree programme is an upper second class honours degree, or an equivalent overseas qualification, in a relevant subject. A relevant postgraduate award is an advantage.

Applicants for a research degree programme must satisfy the Institution’s English language requirement for doctoral study. Applicants whose first language is not English must have gained a minimum overall score of 6.5 in the British Council International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test (Academic) or a recognised equivalent.

Applicants must demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the area of research.

These studentships are restricted to applicants with citizenship in the United Kingdom and European Union (EU).
Research Topic Areas

1. Education and Related Studies
Studentships are offered on the following topics:

- Emerging models of partnership in Initial Teacher Education
- Evidenced-based education systems and the role of practitioner research in pupil attainment
- Higher education in a further education context: the challenges and opportunities of widening participation
- Children’s spirituality: education and the whole child
- Global issues in early childhood education and care
- Enterprise and entrepreneurship education

2. Health, Social Care, Psychology and Wellbeing
Studentships are offered on the following topics:

- Wellbeing and resilience
- Psychosocial cancer care and lived experiences
- Sleep, memory and dreaming
- Human nutrition
- Health technologies
