Applications are invited for up to two fully funded studentships in the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences at Loughborough University. Internationally renowned for its research excellence, the University has a vibrant research student community of around 1200 students. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework, every department was found to be undertaking research that is internationally recognized, with many regarded as ‘world leading’.
The studentships are central to the School’s overarching research interests in five areas: Communication, culture and public scholarship; Children, youth and families; Environmental processes; Migration, identities, the individual and the state, and Politics, crime and governance (particularly resilience and conflict resolution). They are also keen to recruit students to areas recognized as world-leading in REF 2014, including political communication (including media history); social theory (including in relation to media); conversation analysis; nationalism and migration (including in relation to media); climate change, sedimentology; the geography of globalization; crime and victimization; social exclusion and poverty; European comparative politics; and children and families.
Eligibility
The studentships are open to UK/EU graduates with backgrounds in relevant disciplines and who are articulated, well qualified and highly motivated. The minimum entry qualification is a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent.
