The LUT Doctoral School invites applications for full-time positions (5) of junior researchers aiming at doctoral degree in the following research fields and topics

Control Engineering; Identification and adaptive control of magnetic levitation systems (Doctoral Programme in Energy Systems)
Modelling of Energy Processes; Modelling of dual fluidized bed processes for sustainable energy (Doctoral Programme in Energy Systems)
Sustainable Science; Technological solutions to ensure Nutrition Security within planetary boundaries (Doctoral Programme in Energy Systems)
Green Chemical Technology; Membrane Technology
(Doctoral Programme in Engineering Science)
Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition; data-driven approach for Computational Intelligence (Doctoral Programme in Engineering Science)
The positions will be available from 1 January 2018 or as agreed.

The applicant must hold a Master’s degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in a relevant field giving eligibility for doctoral studies and be able and motivated to complete the doctoral degree in the target time of four years. A scientifically sound research proposal or a description of research ideas or interests as well as a research subject suitable for the doctoral programme in question are essential selection criteria. The postgraduate study right required for completing the doctoral degree is to be applied for within one year of the beginning of the employment relationship.

The aim for a junior researcher is to complete the doctoral degree in four years. The employment relationship of a junior researcher is fixed-term with a four-month trial period. The position will be available initially for one year and can be extended for another three years provided that the doctoral studies and research have progressed well. Applicants who already have a doctoral study right at LUT are also eligible, but the maximum duration of the employment relationship will still be four years counted from the beginning of the first employment contract of the junior researcher.
