The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is currently seeking to recruit staff to the position of 15-20 Doctoral Students, for a fixed term of maximum 4 years, starting on 1st of January 2018 or according to a separate agreement.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is a strong contributor to human sciences. It has a central role in understanding and developing human activities and the structures of society. The faculty is a unique, strongly profiled unit that conducts internationally significant research with societal impact. Research and education at the faculty focus on culture, arts, traditions, languages and communication, social sciences and philosophy.

The duties of the doctoral student will focus on postgraduate studies.

The duties, eligibility requirements and language skills of doctoral student are defined in the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Proficiency in Finnish is required in the teaching and research positions of the University of Jyväskylä. However, when considered appropriate, the University may grant exemption from the language proficiency requirements.

The Doctoral Student must have a relevant Master’s degree and the right to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Jyväskylä.

The doctoral student’s job-specific salary component is based on the job demands levels 1 - 4 (1 808,42 €/month – 2 475,31 €/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to the maximum of 46,3% of the job-specific salary component is also paid.
