The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is a strong contributor to human sciences. It has a central role in understanding and developing human activities and the structures of society. The faculty is a unique, strongly profiled unit that conducts internationally significant research with societal impact. Research and education at the faculty focus on culture, arts, traditions, languages and communication, social sciences and philosophy.
The positions of the postdoctoral researcher are placed in the Department of Language and Communication Studies. At the Department, we conduct top-level research and provide high quality academic education in language and communication studies. We conduct research on language usage and language learning, interaction and media, as well as on their interfaces in a networked and diversifying world. Our core fields share the idea of language and communication as social activity in a changing world. Our multifaceted and up-to-date research responds to the challenges of the modern world in understanding the complex and evolving language and communication environments we face in our everyday environment.
The Postdoctoral Researchers are expected to carry out independent research on applied language studies, communication and/or media studies, with connections to the profiling area’s theme of language in the changing world. The tasks of the Postdoctoral Researchers also include supervising theses and teaching. The Postdoctoral Researchers also participate in applying for external research funding.
The successful candidates need to have evidence of research in applied language studies, communication and/or media studies. The successful applicants are also expected to have broad theoretical and methodological expertise.
