The ICCP is planning to fill three postdoctoral fellow positions in the newly established research team “Tropical climate dynamics: past, present, future” led by Dr. Malte Stuecker (www.maltestuecker.com) at the IBS Center for Climate Physics (ICCP), Pusan National University (http://iccp.ibs.re.kr), South Korea.
Applicants for these positions should have a PhD in physical oceanography, atmospheric science, climate dynamics, or a related field. Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to have strong computational skills, a solid publication record, a high level of independence and creativity, and an interest in working in an international and interdisciplinary research environment. Our tropical climate research team studies modes of climate variability (such as ENSO, decadal variability, Monsoon systems), global teleconnections and their sensitivities to past and future climate change. Furthermore, we are interested in the question of which sea surface temperature and precipitation patterns will emerge in response to anthropogenic forcing and the greater role of tropical climate in the Earth system.
Postdoctoral fellows will receive a competitive salary (~50,000 USD), support for conference travel, access to a 1 Pflop supercomputer, as well as benefits and incentives.
