PhD Scholarships in Law, University of Nottingham, UK (2018)

The School of Law at The University of Nottingham is offering funding for PhD candidates commencing their studies in October 2018.

The School of Law is consistently ranked amongst the leading law schools in the UK and is a world-ranked centre for legal research and teaching; we are ranked in the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings 2017. In the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014), the School was ranked 6th among UK law schools in terms of both research power and intensity. We welcome aspiring scholars to apply for our PhD programme and become integrated with our vibrant and diverse research community, which includes internationally recognised teaching staff and researchers, as well as the student body.

The amount of funding available for the School to award varies year upon year and the exact value of each individual award will be decided by the School. Some students may receive a scholarship which covers the full tuition fee; others may receive a maintenance grant to support living costs; alternatively a full scholarship including both fees and stipend may be awarded.

Any PhD application submitted by midnight on 31 January 2018 will automatically be considered for this Scholarship opportunity; no additional funding application is required. The School of Law Scholarship Committee will meet in March 2018 to make award decisions, and will aim to deliver outcomes to applicants as soon as possible after this date.

Scholarship awards are made on the basis of academic merit and the strength of the proposed doctoral research.

These scholarships are available in all areas of law in which the School is able to offer supervision.
