The fellow will perform studies on the function of proteins from the human Nek kinase family in normal and cancer cells, using techniques such as: interactome, phosphoproteome, gene silencing, bio-assay development etc.. This project will be part of a Thematic Project from the Sao Paulo Research Foundation - FAPESP, which aims at the comprehension of the physiological and patho-physiological functions of the Nek kinases and its exploration as candidate targets for the discovery and characterization of novel anti-cancer drug candidates. The project will be performed in facilities located at the Biology Institute and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of UNICAMP.
Prerequisites:
1) Interest in modern methods in molecular biology and in the development of new methods and bioassays;
2) Interest in the fields of cell signaling and cancer research;
3) Fluency in English; foreign candidates should have interest in learning basic Portuguese during the fellowships period;
4) Availability to take residency in Campinas during the fellowship period and interest in performing part of the project in an Institute abroad (sandwich progrogram);
5) Desired: solid background in molecular biology, experience with cell culture;
6) Previous research experience in the laboratory during under-graduate years
