The Jena School for Microbial Communication (JSMC) is funded by the German Excellence Initiative. The structured, interdisciplinary training program based on toplevel fundamental research combines different areas to form a comprehensive picture of microbial communication (www. jsmc.uni-jena.de). The International Leibniz Research School (ILRS Jena) is the graduate training program of the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute – in cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology (www.ilrs.de). Together, these graduate training programs invite applications for 6 Doctoral Researcher Positions

Research projects on several topics in Natural, Life and Computational Sciences

We expect:
- a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the natural or life sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Geosciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, etc.). Candidates in the final stages of obtaining their degree are eligible to apply.
- high motivation and interest in joining one of the interdisciplinary research areas of JSMC or ILRS
- the ability to work creatively and the desire to develop your own thesis project
- an integrative and cooperative personality with enthusiasm for actively participating in the dynamic JSMC and ILRS Communities
- excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken (instruction language at JSMC and ILRS)

The doctoral researcher positions are available starting from from June 2018. The positions will be financially supported corresponding to TV-L (salary agreement for public service employees).
