The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), in the framework of the project ARCHERS, which is funded by an exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is seeking to recruit applicants for three (3) postdoctoral/research assignments. The project aims at reducing or even reversing the brain drain by providing high quality research opportunities to young scientists of Greek origin.
Job Description
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation – FORTH fellows are expected to perform high quality research within one of the research areas, in which FORTH/ICE-HT excels both on the national and the international level (www.iceht.forth.gr). More specifically, the domains of interest in the present project are the preservation of cultural heritage and the science and innovation in the areas of environment, clean energy and health.
Research areas
1. Drug Delivery/Targeting Systems- Nanomedicines
2. Source-Receptor Relationships in Atmospheric Pollution
3. Development of carbon-based materials for supercapacitors
Eligibility criteria for research area 1
- PhD in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or other project-related discipline, such as Pharmaceutics or Nanobiotechnology
- Good knowledge of Greek and English language
Criteria for Selection
- PhD in project related discipline
- Experience in nanoparticle/liposome development for drug delivery
- Experience in cell culture methodologies, flow cytometry, and cellular studies for evaluation (prediction) of NP/liposome toxicity and targeting potential and/or therapeutic efficacy
- Experience in microscopy techniques and sample preparation methods (such as fixation, cryotome use) (optical, electronic, confocal, etc.)
- Ability to perform independent research
- Previous Post-Doctoral experience, relative to project
- Experience in chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques
Eligibility criteria for research area 2
- Ph.D. degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or Physics or Chemistry
- Good knowledge of Greek and English language
Criteria for Selection
- Experience in air pollution research
- Experience in atmospheric chemical transport modeling
- Experience in source-receptor analysis
- Publications in international peer-reviewed journals
Eligibility criteria for research area 3
- PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Good knowledge of Greek and English language
Criteria for Selection
- PhD in project related discipline
- Experience in development of high surface area inorganic materials
- Experience in physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials
- Proven research and lab experience in the investigation of energy related technologies
- Ability to perform independent research
- Post-Doctoral experience
