Description
The Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece, Harvard University, invites young writers to express interest for the Playwriting Workshop it organizes, devoted to Greek dramaturgy and the fostering of new playwrights.
The Workshop, entitled "Objects of History", addresses young writers wishing to develop their skills in playwriting. The participants will have the opportunity to discuss with author Andreas Flourakis, deepening in the art of theatrical writing.
The workshop is offered free of charge.

Prerequisites
The Workshop topic is specialized, and it deals with the theatrical discourse of the 200th anniversary of the 1821 revolution. What objects are connected with the concept of history and rebellion? Through these objects, what are the questions that seek for answers about Greece 200 years ago and Greece today? During the workshop, the participants will explore, through their personal perspective, thoughts, concerns, expectations and personal experiences of small uprisings while looking at our modern history through the eyes of theater.
Interested applicants are invited to commit themselves to attending all of the workshop meetings and be consistent at the predetermined time schedule.
Submissions Deadline: September 16 2018
Venue: The workshops are held at the Center for Hellenic Studies Studies in Nafplio, Greece.
Meetings: The Workshops are intensive. The sessions will take place in a total of four days, two weekends in autumn and winter: October 13 – 14 and December 22 – 23, 2018.
*Please note that weekends are not contiguous, there are intermediate days to allow preparation. Each day includes five-hour sessions, with breaks in between.
Selection of participants: The number of participants per workshop does not exceed sixteen (16) - in order to complete meaningful work on each writer’s text. The selection of participants will be made by the workshop coordinator, author Andreas Flourakis.
Announcement of results: The results will be announced on October 1, 2018. CHS GR will notify selected parties by email and phone.
Certificate of participation: At the end of the workshop participants receive a certificate of participation by the CHS GR.
