Young Investigator Fellowships in Epidemiology | Βραζιλία

We are looking for passionate and dedicated young investigators interested in developing project in the Center for Research and Technological Development of Geoprocessing, Information and Statistics of the Department of Epidemiology and Technical Guidance of SUCEN, the Superintendence of Endemic Diseases Control in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.

The mission of the Superintendence of Control Endemic Diseases is: to promote the effective control of diseases transmitted by vectors and intermediary hosts in the State of São Paulo, to carry out research and necessary activities to advance scientific and technological knowledge and to cooperate with municipal governments to control actions, according to constitutional provisions, as well as assisting them in the control of other vertebrate host involved in the epidemiological chain of vector-borne diseases.

The project should include the following objectives:

1. Development of a solution that allows the integration of surveillance and vector control data to those available from external sources (social, demographic, climatic, topographic, road network, hydrographic, soil occupation and access to health services);
2. Development of quick solutions for validation and evaluation of those data, to generate information for the improvement of surveillance and vector control;
3. Development of algorithms for predicting risk and occurrence of the disease for surveillance and vector control, specifically, models that contemplate the vulnerability of human populations to the occurrence of diseases. These models should contemplate the analysis of composite scenarios considering environmental factors and the deterministic ecological interactions;
4. Development of solutions in the areas of image processing and geoprocessing, to assist in decision making.
