Applications are invited for ONE full-time doctoral student positions and ONE post-doc position for a maximum of four years, starting at the latest on 01.09.2018 in an Academy of Finland research project led by Associate Professor Mehdi Bennis (Principal investigator).
The project (SMARTER) will lay down the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of massive, low-latency and proactive wireless networks. In contrast to reactive, centrally-managed and one-size-fit-all networking approaches based on dumb devices and centralized processing, the proposed networking paradigm is proactive in essence and exploits the fact that network nodes and devices are endowed with storage, computing, and cognitive capabilities; largely unexplored today. This allows the network fabric to be dynamically configured and adapted while provisioning and allocating resources when and where needed the most, subject to connectivity-latency-reliability constraints. SMARTER will explore a wide variety of use cases including V2X, industrial IoT, multimodal (visio-haptic) VR, and distributed AI.
Applications must be submitted using the electronic application form by Date, 1.8.2018, 24:00 (Finnish local time).
