Summary
This is a new research project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and based at the University of Geneva (project leader:Paul Schubert). Its aim will be to develop a digital platform for the study and description of the typology of Greek documentary papyri. The funding provided by the SNSF will cover the hiring of three scientists.

Postdoc in documentary papyrology (80%, 4 years)
A papyrologist with a broad knowledge of Greek documentary papyri, whose task will be to map a robust taxonomy of the whole corpus. She/he will have to work in close collaboration with the postdoc computer specialist in order to develop the interface. Her/his output will consist in the elaboration of a taxonomy, which should result in an online, open access publication. Furtheroutput will consist of articles submitted to peer-reviewed journals.
- Employment rate:80%, leaving 20%to develop her/his own research if desired, or to prepare the next steps in her/his career.The postdoc will be expected to spend at least three full workdays every week at the University of Geneva.
- Duration: 4 years, starting in early January (to be determined).
- Salary: approx. 65'000 Swiss francs (€ 57’000)/ year.
- Working language: English (French in addition will be a valuable asset).

Postdoc computer specialist in the Digital Humanities (80%, 4 years)
A computing scientist with a high degree of competence in the Digital Humanities, with a special focus on ancient languages. She/he will develop the interface and display. She/he should have excellent skills in html programming, display building and image processing, handling of xml-encoded texts, and some specific experience with Ancient Greek texts. Skills would be required also in CSS, JavaScript, Python, as well as with MySQL databases. Her/his output will consist in the interface that will allow researchersto access the material selected for the typology. Further output will consist of articles submitted to peer-reviewed journals.

PhD student in documentary papyrology (4 years)
She/he will be working on a PhD thesis covering a specific aspect of the typology of Greek documentary papyri, namely the hypomnema(memorandum),under the supervision of the project leader. She/he will also be using the tool developed by the two postdoc scientists. Her/his output should consist mainly of a monograph that will conform to the new SNSF guidelines regarding Open Access.
- Duration: 4 years, starting in early January (to be determined). The PhD student is expected to work in Geneva, together with the rest of the research team.
- Salary: approx. 47'000 Swiss francs (€ 42’000) / year.
- Working language: the dissertation will be written either in English (preferably) or in French.
