2 PhD positions (experimental physics) are available in the groups of Frank Stienkemeier and Giuseppe Sansone at the Institute of Physics, University of Freiburg, Germany. In a close collaboration between the two groups, we are combining expertise in XUV and
attosecond science (Sansone), on the one hand, and coherent multidimensional spectroscopy (Stienkemeier), on the other hand, to develop coherent nonlinear and multidimensional spectroscopy in the XUV and attosecond regime. This new class of XUV spectroscopy will provide unprecedented information about coherent and nonlinear processes studied in fundamental systems on femto- to attosecond time scales. The
PhD students will built a specialized interferometric setup for timing and phase control of intense femtosecond laser pulses and combine it with a high-harmonic generation laser source. Experiments will focus on the study of coherent wave packet dynamics, attosecond metrology and two-color VIS-XUV two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy.
