Overview of the Position: The IT Support and Network Specialist is responsible for installing and maintaining computer hardware and software, monitoring the school's LAN and wireless network and managing user access.
Scope of the Position: The IT Support and Network Specialist is reporting to the Deputy Director and works closely with all faculty and staff.
Hours: 6 hours per day, 3 days per week
Key Competencies and Responsibilities
- Installing and configuring computer hardware, operating system and software applications.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, operating system and network issues.
- Diagnosing and solving hardware, software or network faults.
- Updating installed software on the school's desktop and laptop computers.
- Guiding staff through a series of actions to help set up systems or resolve issues.
- Monitoring network performance and managing user access.
- Monitoring the security of technology resources.
- Setting up user accounts and dealing with passwords issues for faculty, staff and students.
- Maintaining logs and/or lists of required repairs and maintenance.
- Cooperating with the school's external IT support providers.
- Providing individual training and support to faculty and staff on existing and new technology resources as needed.
- Maintaining a current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
- Testing and evaluating new technology and making recommendations about the purchase of new technology resources
- Education - Experience
Applicants must demonstrate proficient knowledge in computer hardware, Windows operating systems and network administration. Previous experience in a technical support and/or network administration position is desirable. A relevant University degree is preferred, however, relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
