We are currently looking to recruit talented students for a unique programme which combines industry experience with cutting edge research in civil engineering, delivered in collaboration with a range of top-tier contractors and consultants at the UK’s top ranking Engineering Department. Successful applicants will spend 1 year working with an industry partner, prior to starting a 1 year MRes + 3 year PhD programme at the FIBE CDT at the University of Cambridge.
During your year in industry, you will have the opportunity to join the graduate training scheme delivered by your industry partner and also to participate in FIBE CDT activities at the University of Cambridge. You will then start your 1 year MRes + 3 year PhD programme, where you will undertake training in both core civil engineering subjects and specialist modules to develop your research interests and prepare you for your PhD studies. Applicants are not required to have a proposed PhD topic or supervisor in order to apply.

Eligibility criteria
Students are normally expected to have a 2.1 or 1st class honours degree or equivalent in civil engineering or a cognate discipline.
Students who wish to apply for the I+ scheme must be eligible to work in the UK. A salary will be provided for the I + year by the industry partner.
The studentships for the MRes + PhD years are subject to the ESPRC eligibility criteria which are summarized below. Fully funded studentships cover UK/EU fees plus a tax-free stipend (currently set at £14,296 per annum). Part funded studentships cover UK/EU fees only.
