A Call for 8 Doctoral fellowships (Bolsa de Doutoramento) is open at the Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D.Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr.Carlos Montez Champalimaud) in the context of the project Programa de Doutoramento – PD/325/2012 – financed by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) / Ministério da Educação e Ciência (PIDDAC) under the International Neuroscience Doctoral Programme (INDP), for its 2016 edition, with classes starting in January 2017.
1. Scientific Area: Neuroscience
2. Requirements for admission: Applicants must hold a Masters degree and/or a 4+ year undergraduate degree.
3. Factors preferred: Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to tackle difficult intellectual challenges, to learn new skills and ways of thinking and to work passionately as part of a research team. Predoctoral training in quantitative disciplines (e.g. physics, mathematics, computer science), biological sciences (e.g. biology, medicine, bioengineering) or related fields is important. Sound knowledge of English language is crucial for the applicant’s success.
4. Work plan: Admitted students will complete one semester of intensive courses and will be able to perform rotations in CR laboratories (www.research.fchampalimaud.org). Courses are led by distinguished local and invited international scientists. The topics of instruction include among others sensory & motor systems, animal learning, social neuroscience or data analysis. All courses have a practical component such as programming exercises, small projects, and experimental work in the INDP dedicated teaching laboratory.
