Starting from October 2015, the Université catholique de Louvain several full time assistantship position (50% research, 50% teaching assistant) in the fields of quantitative finance, financial econometrics, and macro-finance.
The selected candidates will perform his research in the Centre of Studies in Asset Management (CeSAM) which is part of the research institute of the LSM (ILSM). The CeSAM is one of the biggest and most dynamic Belgian financial centers. The CeSAM closely cooperates with other research UCL research centers such as the Centre for Operational Research and Econometrics (CORE), the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IRES), the Institute of Statistics, Biostatistics and Actuarial Sciences (ISBA) and with many Belgian and European research entities such as the National Bank of Belgium and the European Central Bank. Thanks to these collaborations (i) in 2016 the CESAM will welcome the Nobel Laureate Lars Hansen, John Campbell, Viral Acharya, John Cochrane, and Kenneth Singleton among others, (ii) it organizes the training school of the Society of Financial Econometrics (SoFiE) and (iii) it regularly organizes advanced Ph.D. courses in all the field of finance (Marco Pagano, Allan Timmermann, Erik Ghysels and Geert Bekaert have already intervened in this series). TASKS
- Prepare a doctoral thesis in economics and management (finance, financial econometrics, macro-finance and quantitative finance). The topic of the thesis will be agreed with the promoter.
- Participate to the research activities of the Doctoral School in Economics and Management (attendance to internal workshops/conferences, participation to the organization of the scientific events supported by the CeSAM, contribution to the team’s scientific blog, etc.)
Teaching at the master's/bachelor's level, courses such as: Corporate finance, Accountancy, Asset pricing.
The applicant should have:
- A master’s degree (or complete it before July 2016) in finance or equivalent fields
- Excellent academic records as proofed by excellent grades. Students with an average grade below 75% are discouraged to apply.
- Good writing and organization skills,
- The ability and interest to work in a multidisciplinary team,
- Strong programming skills (Matlab/R/etc.) would be considered a plus.
