PDEng Position: Supporting collaboration of distributed design teams at Eindhoven University of Technology

The EU funded project CONCEPT aims to support professional designers in Small and Medium Enterprises during the early conceptual stages of a collaborative design. Distributed collaborative design is a complex process, and the lack of appropriate computer support tools makes it difficult for Small to Medium Enterprise businesses, to bring new products to market, on time, and survive market competition. The TU/e has developed Cloobok is a tool that helps track changes in documents shared over the cloud, supporting awareness and collaboration between design teams and stakeholders.

Currently Cloobok exists as a working system that works on shared Dropbox directlories. The assignment is to:

- integrate Cloobok with Google Drive technically and with special focus on UI adaptations that might be necessary (design);

- evaluate the system in a field deployment, when used in a project that has design team members with both Dropbox and Google Drive accounts.

Candidates should have a background in an area relating to software engineering, computer science and an interest to develop sklils in the design of interactive systems. Experience with JavaScript and Node.js will be very much appreciated.
