The EU-funded ATLANTOS project will be organising its Evolving and Sustaining Ocean Best Practices Workshop, in Paris, France, 15th-17th November 2017.
The Workshop has been organised in response to a growing need for global and sustainable ocean best practice management. This is being recognised in our discussions with national and international organisations. The management includes a sustainable repository with easy discovery and access for best practices. Interoperability is also considered a key requirement as more people are working interdisciplinary issues in the global context of understanding ocean dynamics and ecosystems.
The AtlantOS and ODIP Projects, JCOMMOCG and IODE will hold a two-and-a-half-day workshop on ‘Evolving and Sustaining Ocean Best Practices.’ The Workshop provides the opportunity for leaders of the global ocean observing community to guide the creation of a new process for best practice management. The outcomes of the workshop will include a review of the prototype repository of best practices and a position paper on sustaining ocean best practices. In addition, work will be done towards a session paper for OceanObs’19, as well as addressing options to support a sustainable global standards and best practice initiative (including possible submission for a SCOR Working Group).
