StrukturSolar (www.struktursolar.de) is a joint research graduate school of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Several PhD students from both universities work on innovative structuring concepts for solar cells of the next generation. For the 2nd phase of the research project three PhD positions at Anhalt University in Köthen have to be filled. The topics of research are plasma chemical texturing and passivation of silicon for PV applications, plasma chemical texturing of smooth surfaces (kerfless separated Si wafers and glass substrates) and finally the investigation of voids at the back contacts of PERC solar cells. For more details see www.struktursolar.de.
Candidates must be prepared to conduct a part of the research work at the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics (CSP) at Halle (Saale). The PhD thesis will be submitted at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
Desired skills and experience
Master or Diplom in Physics, Materials Science or other physically orientated Engineering Science.
Experiences in semiconductor physics and technology, photovoltaics or plasma technology of advantage, but not prerequisite.
Applications from candidates, who did either the Bachelor or Master (or both) at an University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule) are welcome. One of the targets of the graduate school StrukturSolar is to support the PhD of such candidates. Therefore a good balance of candidates from the different university types is intended within the graduate school.
