11 PhD Positions, Research Training Group “Medicinal Chemistry of Selective GPCR Ligands”, Germany (2016-2017)

The Research Training Group “Medicinal Chemistry of Selective GPCR Ligands” (GRK 1910) at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the University of Regensburg funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) offers 11 PhD Positions (TV‐L E13, 65%)

Research Training Group GRK 1910 aims to explore the ligand-induced control of aminergic and peptidergic G-protein coupled receptors at different levels of selectivity. The program-specific interdisciplinary qualification profile integrates chemical, radiopharmaceutical, pharmacological, molecular biological, bioanalytical and biochemical aspects of drug research and methods of modern computer-aided drug discovery. In addition to carrying out research projects at a laboratory of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) or the University of Regensburg (UR), all graduates will be given the opportunity to work for 3-4 months in the research laboratory of a collaborator abroad to acquire additional knowledge, learn to use modern methods and techniques in addition to those established in the home labs at the FAU or UR and to gain international experience. The qualification program also involves retreats, workshops and seminar/webinar days that deal with and promote the core research idea.

Highly qualified candidates with academic education in chemistry, pharmacy or related disciplines are invited to apply. Degrees such as M.Sc., “Staatsexamen” or equivalent qualifications are required for PhD studies. PhD positions are provided for up to three years.
