Video Competition: Shining Stars of Europe, 2016

Shining Stars of Europe is a video contest inviting people from all over Europe and beyond to express their ideas for the future in a short video clip of no more than two minutes’ duration. Every edition features a new theme. Shining Stars of Europe empowers people by offering them a platform on which they can present their own ideas to large audiences. Anyone, regardless of nationality, is eligible to participate. The deadline for submissions is 18 September 2016. The three winning groups will receive travel and project grants which will allow them to put their ideas into practice. Now in its fifth edition, the event is co-organised by the European Commission and the European Parliament, in cooperation with the European Youth Conference under the Slovak EU Presidency 2016.

The first edition was organised in the context of the European Citizen Dialogues, in close cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg.

The second edition took place in the run-up to the European Parliament elections, and was organised in close cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg as well as the Information Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg.

The third edition was supported by a European Transnational Youth Initiative and organised in close cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg as well as the Information Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg.

The fourth edition was organised under the umbrella of the European Year for Development and was launched on 9 January 2015 in Riga. It was presented by the Latvian and Luxembourg Presidencies 2015 of the Council of the EU as well as the European Commission.

The fifth edition is co-organised by the European Commission and the European Parliament, in cooperation with the European Youth Conference under the Slovak EU Presidency 2016.
