The IMPRS-CMS is a joint graduate program of the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research and the University of Stuttgart. The Stuttgart Campus hosts an extraordinary array of research groups with top-notch facilities and a wide spectrum of expertise in fundamental condensed matter science. Close interaction and cooperation between physicists and chemists, experimentalists and theorists at all levels is an essential element of research in the IMPRS-CMS. Our research interests cover a broad spectrum from fundamental to performance-oriented solid state chemistry, physics and materials science. The synthesis of novel compounds, the experimental characterization of physical and chemical properties, and their theoretical description are closely linked within the IMPRS-CMS. We offer an English-language curriculum comprising lecture courses, a training program in complementary skills, and summer and winter schools with leading international partner institutions.
The highly competitive selection procedure is based on academic performance, recommendation letters, and on-site interviews for shortlisted candidates. The program is open to all nationalities, and the working language is English.
Requirements: Diploma or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or related subjects
Financial Support: All accepted IMPRS-AM fellows will obtain a working contract which is sufficient to cover living expenses in the Stuttgart area.
