The Institute's Postdoctoral Prize Fellowships provide top-caliber researches with an opportunity to carry out an independent research program in any area connected to gravitational wave astronomy in a diverse, dynamic and collaborative group.Areas of particular strength in the group include experimental and theoretical physics with applications to future-generation detector design; data analysis for ground-based, space-borne, and pulsar-timing observatories; and theoretical astrophysics with a focus on gravitational-wave sources at all mass scales.
Role Purpose
- To create and disseminate knowledge through initiating and conducting original research, through publication of journal articles and contributions to scientific conferences.
- To enhance, complement and expand the research activities of the Institute.
Person Specification
Applications from top researchers in all areas related to gravitational-wave astronomy, including instrumentation, quantum measurements, data analysis, astrostatistics, transient astronomy, astrophysics theory and general relativity are encouraged. Applications from Ph.D. holders with strong interdisciplinary connections (e.g., to optics, computer science, theoretical physics) or those with backgrounds in adjoined fields are welcome.
- PhD in astronomy or physics or relevant disciplines
- Extensive research experience and scholarship within subject specialism
- Experience and achievement reflected in a growing international reputation
- Extensive experience and demonstrated success in planning, undertaking and project managing research to deliver high quality results
- Extensive experience of applying and/or developing and devising successful models, techniques and methods
- Experience and achievement in public engagement
