The Blood Cancer Research Group at the University of Ostrava and University Hospital Ostrava admits applications for two doctoral projects in Cancer Immunotherapy research in 4-years Biology Programme. The research group is a newly established young international team led by experienced scientists with national and international collaborations and as such provides an attractive training opportunity to start your career in science.
PhD Positions
PhD program will focus on both fundamental cancer research and novel therapeutic approaches to treat hematologic malignancies harnessing the natural antitumor capacity of the immune system. Our research benefits from a large biobank and access to unique patient samples. We employ the latest experimental approaches including next-generation sequencing, RNAseq, CRISPR-Cas9 genome modification, mass spectrometry, mouse models including non-invasive bioluminescence imaging, and all standard and advanced molecular and cell biology techniques. Besides, we collaborate with prestigious international centres and pharma companies. The project details and thesis topics are available upon request.
We are looking for three highly motivated, enthusiastic, proactive colleagues with previous lab experience and deep interest in biomedical research. Background in Molecular biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Animal handling, Microbiology or Biochemistry is an asset. Good command of the English language including writing skills is mandatory. She/he will be responsible for planning and performing biological experiments, analysis of results, presenting results at regular meetings and conferences, and contributing to publications.
The PhD positions are funded for 4 years with a competitive salary (PhD scholarship + part-time contract).
Postdoctoral Positions
Current postdoctoral positions are a unique possibility to combine basic and translational research. Successful candidates will be working on the collaborative projects aiming at:
1) development of CAR-T and NK cells products for therapy of haemato-oncological diseases;
2) development of cardiovascular system simulator affected with patient’s atherosclerotic plague for testing the stability, antibodies’ specificity and sensitivity for diagnostic and prognostic purposes;
3) development and preclinical testing of pharmacological compounds for the treatment of acute reperfusion injury after thrombolytic therapy in acute myocardial infarction and stroke models;
4) development of cell-based therapy for ophthalmology.
