The Research Training Group "ProMoAge: Protein Modification: A Key Mechanism for Ageing" (RTG 2155) funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) welcomes applications for 14 PhD positions. The RTG is based in different institutions of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the University Hospital Jena and the Leibniz Institute for Age Research – Fritz Lipmann Institute, Jena, Germany.
A group of internationally renowned researchers provides unique opportunities to develop scientific careers in a vibrant scientific environment. The exceptional research idea of ProMoAge is that posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of cellular proteins act as key players in age progression. This challenging and interdisciplinary research field covers the following subtopics:
- the molecular enzymatic and non-enzymatic mechanisms of PTMs during ageing
- the modulation of epigenetic and transcriptional processes by PTMs
- the regulation of ageing-relevant cellular signaling cascades by PTMs
We invite highly motivated and outstanding young scientists to apply.
The Martin-Luther- University Halle-Wittenberg, Medical Faculty, Institute for Heart Surgery, in cooperation with ProMoAge, offers from July 1, 2019 for the duration of 3 years.
Required qualifications:
· Excellent master degree (or equivalent) in biogerontology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, biophysics, and related areas.
· High motivation and passion for research, experience in research, active participation in the graduate programme and the readiness to take the extra step of an interdisciplinary approach towards a PhD.
