The Department of Management at the University of Bristol is pleased to invite applications for PhD bursaries in Management.
Successful applicants will study for a PhD, receive a contribution towards the cost of full-time PhD study, and undertake teaching duties within the Department's teaching programmes.
The awards will be for three-and-a-half years, starting in autumn 2019. For a successful applicant, the scheme will waive the full tuition fee for a research student in the Department (this applies to home/EU and international studies).
It also offers a stipend of £15,000 (pro-rata in the final year - £7500) and teaching income of approximately £4000 (depending on the actual teaching undertaken) per annum.
The teaching income is approximately £2,000 in value in years 1 and 4. Students are not expected to teach in the first term of their 1st year and will undertake less teaching when they write up their PhD thesis in their 4th year.
Up to three PhD bursaries may be awarded for the 2019 autumn intake including one predetermined research topic on Sustainable food platforms: A comparative analysis of food provisioning and consumption in Bristol and Oslo.
Further details about this PhD project can be found in the link below.
As part of the Hourly Paid Teaching contract, award-holders will be required to teach around 50-90 contact hours each year and will also be expected to undertake marking/grading duties.
Award-holders will also be expected to undergo teacher training sessions through the CREATE scheme offered by the University's Staff Development Unit.
Awards will be renewable at the end of each year, subject to satisfactory teaching performance, up to a total of three-and-a-half years of funding. Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a Masters degree at distinction/merit level (or equivalent qualifications) in a relevant discipline.
Apart from the predetermined topic specified above, applicants will need to prepare a research proposal which lies within the interests of one or more potential supervisors within the Department.
A wide range of further information about the Department, including details of staff members and courses offered, can be found on the Department of Management's website.
