Bird in Flight Prize 2019: Unconventional Photographers Award

The 2019 Bird in Flight Prize contest is open for works by unconventional photographers worldwide. The choice of theme is unrestricted.

The Bird in Flight Prize is awarded for innovative approach to telling a story through a photograph, to support photographers who think outside the box of traditional artistic standards.

The main prize is 2,000 Euro. The 10 best projects will be published by Bird in Flight and displayed at the exhibition at the Set art space in Kyiv, in October 2019. The Panasonic Readers’ Choice Award will also be awarded, along with 15 in-depth review opportunities.

The contest is not about photo projects that cater to the existing general demand. It’s about discovering new ways to tell a story using the means and tools of photography.

A member of Magnum Photos Antoine d’Agata (Paris), a member of the Unseen advisory committee Emilia van Lynden (Amsterdam), YET Magazine editor-in-chief Salvatore Vitale (Zurich), artist Ola Lanko (Amsterdam), photographers Dmitry Kostyukov (Paris), and Vlad Sokhin (Chiang Mai) are on the panel of the contest judges.

The contest is organized by Bird In Flight — online magazine about photography and visual culture.
