The IMPRS-CMS is a joint graduate program of the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research and the University of Stuttgart. The Stuttgart Campus hosts an extraordinary array of research groups with top-notch facilities and a wide spectrum of expertise in fundamental condensed matter science. Close interaction and cooperation between physicists and chemists, experimentalists and theorists at all levels is an essential element of research in the IMPRS-CMS. Our research interests cover a broad spectrum from fundamental to performance-oriented solid state chemistry, physics and materials science. The synthesis of novel compounds, the experimental characterization of physical and chemical properties, and their theoretical description are closely linked within the IMPRS-CMS.
