Saarland University offers a PhD position (TVL E13 50%, fixed term contract 3 years), dedicated to systems metabolic engineering for health and well-being. The positions are open from July 1st 2020.
Your role
Within the project, you will design and create novel microbial cell factories to synthesize high-value molecules for health care applications. You will apply systems biological and genetic tools to develop an innovative bioproduction process. The projects involves collaboration with national and international partners. You will present and publish the data at international meetings and in high-impact scientific journals. In your work, you will apply the following techniques:
Genome editing
Multi-omics analyses, including transcriptomics, metabolomics and 13C-fluxomics
Feedstock processing and accompanying bioanalytics
Strain characterization in shake flasks and bioreactors
Fermentation and bioprocess optimization
