LICOS, Centre for Institutions and Economic Performance at the KU Leuven (University of Leuven) Faculty of Economics and Business is looking for strong candidates for PhD research positions in the field of Political Economy and Institutions of Food Policy and Development under the supervision of Prof. J. Swinnen. One of the PhD projects will focus on the role of media, advertising, and platforms and will be co-supervised by Prof. Van Cayseele.

LICOS, Centre for Institutions and Economic Performance is one of the 12 Centres of Excellence of the KU Leuven. Since its foundation in 1991, LICOS has been at the Center of top-level theoretical end empirical research of micro- and macro-economic aspects of transition, institutional changes and economic performance. Today the LICOS research portfolio exists of a large set of research projects, including KU Leuven, domestic and international funded research. The two main research programs are the Food Policy and Development research program and the Government and Markets research program (the latter joint with the Centre for Economic Studies). Profile
- University degree in economics and applied economics, preferably at MPhil/Msc level.
- Strong analytic and technical capabilities in modern economic methods.
- Proficiency in statistical and econometric methods.
- Interest in developing collaborative research within a research project.
- A top range GRE test score (in particular in the quantitative section).
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
