You will be part of the Production Section in the Directorate Banknotes. Our Directorate's mission is to ensure the integrity of euro banknotes as an efficient means of payment and protect them against counterfeiting. In particular, the Directorate coordinates all banknote development and production activities, including those related to quality management, within the Eurosystem and with third parties. The Production Section is responsible for coordinating and monitoring euro banknote production, including the accreditation of manufacturers; assuring compliance with health and safety and environmental, security, and quality standards; the approval of production references in printing works and paper mills; and providing technical support in the development of new banknote series. As a trainee in the Production Section you will:
help to establish testing procedures for banknote parameters and quality control tools throughout banknote production;
help to assess measurement tools and procedures for the control of specific banknote parameters (in particular visual and machine-readable properties);
support statistical data analysis of production process capability in order to develop and fine-tune specifications and quality control requirements for banknote production;
organise inter-laboratory exercises for assessing quality control tools and preparing outcome reports;
contribute to the continuous development of banknote quality control systems;
support other activities related to banknote production.
