Genome editing is revolutionising our ability to study gene function, as well as the treatment of diseases. Engineered nucleases, able to efficiently target defined DNA loci, are key reagents in genome editing. The objective of this project is to develop strategies to alter and retune the activity of genome editing enzymes such as CRISPR-Cas, by mechanistic and structural analysis and also directed evolution.
