When the tyre rolls over an uneven road surface, it starts to vibrate. Excessive force transmission and its combination with tyre resonances can cause discomfort. There are many different mechanisms at play which generate tyre noise. One of them is stick-slip phenomena which is responsible for high-frequency transient noise generation. It is therefore paramount to understand how tyre parameters such as cavity, construction, compounds, reinforcements, and tread pattern are responsible for stick-slip and stick-snap noise generation.
