12-26/08/2017 - Εκπαιδευτικό Πρόγραμμα: Solidarity with refugees (Γερμανία)

The village of Friedland became the place of the largest German refugee camp after WWII. In March 1946, the first workcamp of SCI Germany took place there in cooperation with the British SCI branch IVSP. Out of this engagement, local volunteers founded SCI Germany. 70 years later, many refugees, mainly from the Arab world, pass through the camp. The local Museum Friedland now reflects on the different refugee movements and reactions in different times. We will work in a community garden with locals and refugees and study the history of past and present forced migration in Europe.

- Share your personal experience and get inspired by each other;
- Travel around the Netherlands and discover new perspectives;
- Experience yourself through games, connectivities and rituals in the nature;
- Create videos on ‘how to connect yourself with nature and the environment in order to preserve it’.

As part of the 15th European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC), the biggest event world-wide on regional and urban development, the Master Class on EU Cohesion Policy will be held for PhD students and early-career researchers for the fifth time between 8 and 12 October 2017. The Master Class is a unique format to connect young researchers and will include presentations of papers by the participants as well as lectures and panel debates with policy makers, EU officials and senior academics to improve understanding of and research on EU Cohesion Policy.
