2 PhD positions on synthesis/multiscale modelling of 3-d electrocatalysts for biomass upgrading

In your role as PhD candidate, you will advance the development of porous 3-d electrocatalysts for the upgrading of renewable feedstocks (biomass). Electrocatalysts enable the use of renewable electricity to drive chemical reactions and thus allow a truly sustainable production of chemicals and materials from renewable feedstocks. A major challenge in the development of electrocatalysts for biomass upgrading, however, is the large size and structure of the bio-based molecules. This leads to complex transport and diffusion within the porous electrocatalysts.

Neuroscience Center in the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HILIFE) is an independent research organization. Research in Neuroscience Center spans scales from molecular and cellular neuroscience to developmental, cognitive, and systems neuroscience.

The Palva group has a longstanding interest in the comprehensive understanding of systems-level neuronal basis of cognition. Specifically, the research is centered in resolving large-scale architecture of oscillatory brain dynamics and its functional significance in cognition and behavior in humans and recently also in mice models.

3 PhD Studentships in Science-Informed Manufacturing For Scientific Discovery at the University of Nottingham

Applications are open for up to three PhD studentships at the University of Nottingham, tackling engineering and physical sciences challenges.

These four-year studentships are offered through cohort-based doctoral training programmes. You will study alongside other PhD students and receive tailored training and support. Funding is provided by the EPSRC.
