The Computer Science Department at IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) invites highly motivated individuals to apply for two fully funded PhD positions in Data Systems supervised by Associate Professor Pınar Tözün. The ideal starting dates are September 2021 (PhD#1) and January 2022 (PhD#2) or soon thereafter.
The project
The candidate will focus on cutting-edge research that lies at the intersection of computer systems and data science. More specifically, the project will focus on workload characterization of common deep learning applications and developing more hardware-conscious techniques while assigning deep learning tasks onto the available hardware resources to minimize resource waste and overall energy consumption.
The PhD positions are fully funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) Sapere Aude grant led by Pınar Tözün. The positions also include research stays abroad. The ideal candidate:
◾ Has a strong background on machine learning, modern hardware, and computer systems
◾ Has prior experience with running programs on CPU-GPU co-processors
◾ Is familiar with python and C/C++
◾ Is motivated and enthusiastic about carrying research related to data-intensive systems and dealing with complex codebases
