LUT Department of Separation Science seeks talented junior researchers.
The Department of Separation Science at LUT is the largest and most versatile academic research unit in Finland focusing on separation technologies. The department employs approximately 100 researchers studying e.g. adsorption, membrane separation, solid/liquid separation, dissolution, solvent extraction, advanced oxidation processes and chromatography. Application areas from mining and mineral processing to biorefining and wastewater treatment. The focus area includes solid/liquid, liquid/liquid and gas separation. The focus is on the development of advanced and sustainable processes to enable resource efficient raw material utilization and the minimization of created waste. The aim is to develop advanced processes, and both unit operations and hybrid processes are under examination and being developed. In addition, novel separation matrices are developed: for instance, membranes and adsorbents and ways to tailor separation matrices to enable improved selectivity. The department operates across three locations in Finland – Lappeenranta, Lahti and Mikkeli – with state-of-the-art laboratories and works in close collaboration with industry.
