We are looking for highly motivated young investigators wishing to pursue cutting edge research into the mechanisms of neurodegeneration and potential novel therapeutic approaches to tackling these diseases. With our endorsement, suitable candidates will be encouraged to apply for the next round Marie Curie fellowships.
The Projects that we wish to support as fellowship applications are:
1. Establishing hiPSC-based models of neurodegenerative diseases for drug discovery
2. Mechanisms of disease underlying Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease
3. Studying metabolism and proteostasis in the context of autophagy with a view towards therapeutic application
4. Using NMR-based metabolic analyses to decipher mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases
Research projects will incorporate the use of high content and confocal microscopy, NMR spectroscopy, the generation of hiPSC by reprogramming, genome engineering in hESC / hiPSC and their differentiation into neurons, as well as compound screening.
Candidates should have completed a PhD with at least two publications and should have some experience in a relevant discipline, in particular in stem cell biology, neurodegenerative diseases or NMR spectroscopy. We will select up to four candidates who we will support to put forward a fellowship application.
