The Institute for Multiscale Simulation of the Cluster of Excellence ”Engineering of Advanced Materials“ at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg conducts cutting-edge research in the field of particle-based simulation methods and offers several vacancies for research projects in the field of
Multiscale Simulation of Particulate Systems
The institute explores particulate systems by means of numerical simulations,
theoretical approaches and experimental investigations. The research involves systems of physical particles as well as systems where quasi-particles are either used to describe continuum problems or to represent abstract quantities (particle-based simulation). Reaching from atomistic systems to systems of macroscopic particles (granular matter) to hydrodynamics of suspensions and other complex multiphase flows a wide range of applications on all scales is covered.
Candidates should hold a degree or doctorate in physics, computer science, computational physics/engineering or a related subject with a strong background in numerical simulations. They should have a strong motivation, commitment to research and command of written and spoken English.
