The PhD Programme in Molecular and Experimental Medicine (MEM) is organized by Humanitas University together with University of Palermo and the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and run in association with the RIKEN Institute (Yokohama City, Japan).

The aim of the Programme is to provide training in diverse fields of life sciences and molecular medicine (immunology and inflammation, genetics, oncology, neurosciences, molecular cardiology and imaging) offering a stimulating international environment with access to state-of-the-art technology and clinical case lists for translational studies.
PhD students will be involved in cutting-edge research projects in a lively scientific context (with seminars, lectures, courses held by international scientists).
The Programme starts in January 2016 and lasts 3 years.
Available positions & scholarships
There are 9 available positions, all funded by scholarships:
3 positions funded by Humanitas University to carry out research projects at the Department of Biomedical Science in Rozzano (Milan);
3 positions funded by University of Palermo to carry out research projects at the Cellular and Molecular Pathophysiology Laboratory and at the Central Laboratory of Advanced Diagnosis and Biomedical research (CLADIBIOR) in Palermo;
3 positions funded by CNR to carry out research projects at the Laboratory of Inflammation and Immunology in Cardiovascular Pathologies, at the Laboratory of Human Genome and at the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Brain Pathology in Rozzano (Milan).
Admissions requirements
Candidates should possess an academic title (usually referred to as a Master's Degree)* in one or more of the following subjects:
- Biology (LM-6);
- Medical Biotechnology, veterinary and pharmaceutical (LM-9);
- Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (LM-13);
- Medicine and Surgery (LM-41);
- Veterinary Medicine (LM-42);
- Dentistry (LM-46);
- Physics (LM-17).
