The European Commission is keen to learn more about what you think:
•What is your experience in an enlarged European Union?
•How can the enlarged European Union meet the challenges of the future?
The overall idea of this writing competition is to promote the success of EU enlargement among Europe’s future opinion leaders – as future parents, teachers, entrepreneurs etc. Young people will be prompted to reflect on the issue of EU enlargement and on countries they might not be very familiar with. They will learn more about each other’s countries and cultures and experience the benefits of EU enlargement. This will foster a common sense of European identity among the young generation.
Participants are invited to answer one or both the questions above. The objective of the competition is to encourage informed debate on EU enlargement, therefor despite positive impacts of EU enlargement, critical responses are invited if well argued and constructive, as these can only add to the debate.
Prize
The national winners will be awarded with a three-day visit to Brussels, Belgium, at the end of May 2015. The winning articles will also be published on the European Commission’s website and will be offered to leading national media for publication. The organisers will cover meals, accommodation and flight costs to Brussels and admission to organised activities.
