Tampere University of Technology (TUT) invests in doctoral education. TUT’s Graduate School covers all disciplines represented at the University (see http://www.tut.fi/en/about-tut/departments) and has several positions available for doctoral students.
The University is now seeking to fill Doctoral Student positions in the field of architecture and different branches of engineering.
Job description:
The positions will be filled for a fixed-term period of two or four years from 1 January 2016 onwards. During this time, Doctoral students will undertake full-time study towards a doctoral degree. The University will also expect the Doctoral students to perform teaching duties in their own fields as part of their doctoral education.
Requirements:
The successful candidates must be eligible for studies leading to a scientific or artistic doctoral degree as set forth in the Universities Act (558/2009 37§). The prerequisite degree must be completed by 31 December 2015. Applicants, who apply for 4 years position, do not have to hold official doctoral student status at TUT when submitting the application.
The call for 4 years position is open to applicants who have completed their master degree after the beginning of 2014 and before end of the 2015. (degree certificate issued 1 Jan 2014–31 Dec 2015).*
*For applicants with children,1 year per child will be added to the permitted duration.
The call for 2 years position is open to applicants who
- have already enrolled in a doctoral program at TUT
- have demonstrated their progress in their studies and thesis work

- Alignment of the candidate’s capabilities with the research task
- A feasible plan for implementation and support
- Clear description of intended impacts, outputs and added value
- Supervisor’s and department head’s recommendation
