The position is that of Chief Executive Medical Director of The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics for an initial period of five years with the possibility of extension. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the activities of the Institute and will be accountable to its Board of Directors. He/she will be in close collaboration with the Institute’s Scientific Council in the management of scientific matters.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• An MD and/or PhD in Genetics, Neurology and/or Biomedical Sciences; and
• A minimum of 10 years post sub-specialty clinical or research/service experience; and
• Recognized expertise in his/her field of sub-specialty that should be within the Institute’s primary areas of interest; and
• An extensive publication record commensurate with a position of professorship in a major Academic Institution; and
• Good understanding of all core areas of interest of the Institute; and
• A track record of demonstrated leadership skills, especially in previously held positions leading groups of scientists and/or physicians; and
• Proven ability to formulate clearly defined strategies that are within the goals and remits of the Institute; and
• Ability to collaborate closely with the Scientific Council and formulate realistic development plans ensuring implementation within defined timelines; and
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate strategy, philosophy and action plans to the Board, the Scientific Council and the staff; and
• Proven track record of staff motivation; and
• Ability to create and foster a focused, agile and productive environment; and
• A track record of organizational skills in previous roles; and
• Ability to integrate the professional and technical staff into a unified, coherent, operational team; and
• Ability to formulate and communicate clear objectives and accountabilities; and
• Possess a dynamic personality that inspires confidence and optimism, and vision to establish goals towards which the efforts of the Institute should aspire.
