The EU Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network HICONO (“High-Intensity Coherent Nonlinear Optics”) invites applications for several positions as early-stage researchers (PhD students). HICONO deals with experimental research in the field of nonlinear optics and coherent light-matter interactions, driven with ultra-fast high-intensity lasers. For more information on HICONO see www.hicono.eu.
The network involves six academic research teams and two industry partners, i.e. Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), Imperial College (London/UK), University of Oxford (UK), Institute of Photonic Sciences (Barcelona/Spain), Weizmann Institute of Science (Rehovot/Israel), Queen’s University Belfast (UK), Luphos GmbH (Mainz/Germany), Fastlite (Orsay/France). Positions are available in all of these institutions.
The candidates should hold appropriate expertise from their studies or MSc project to contribute to the research field in HICONO. In particular, we are looking for clever candidates with profound scientific knowledge, proven by a MSc university degree with excellent marks, experimental experience, as well as pronounced communication and management skills. The job also requires very good skills in English language. We encourage in particular women to apply. In case of equal qualification, women will be given preference.
Due to the rules of Innovative Training Network, eligible candidates must come from abroad, have not resided more than 12 of the last 36 months in the country of the host institute, and hold less than 4 years of research experience after the MSc degree.
If you are interested in our job opening and your experiences fit with the above candidate profile please submit your application (including a CV, photo, list of publications and conference contributions, list of courses and marks in your BSc and MSc studies, as well as two addresses of potential referees) in a single PDF by email to the coordinator of HICONO at the Technical University of Darmstadt thomas.halfmann@physik.tu-darmstadt.de . Please also indicate, which research team and location you are interested in – if relevant. Please note, that incomplete applications will be ignored.
