The Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation (IAFRI) is a joint venture between Newcastle University and Fera Science Ltd (Fera). The aim is to deliver innovation in research across the agri-food supply chain, and provide sustainable solutions to problems facing Fera’s diverse customer base in both the agricultural and food sectors.
IAFRI represents a new model for how universities can work with research organisations, operating under a private-public ownership approach to deliver both innovation and wealth creation in strategically important industrial sectors in the UK and while operating for the benefit of society.
A maximum of 6 studentships will be awarded selected from a total of 9 studentship projects that are available to choose from based on IAFRI’s current studentship themes:
- Diagnostic and decision systems for Agriculture
- Functional Food
- Risk management tools for the agri-food industry
