The 11th ORPHEUS Conference “Lost in translation? From medical studies to clinical research” taking place from March 10th-12th 2016 on the Medical Campus at the University of Cologne, Germany.
The ORPHEUS Conference is organized under the patronage of the Organization for PhD Education in Biomedicine and health Sciences of the European System (ORPHEUS - http://www.orpheus-med.org/) by the Faculty of Medicine and the Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne at the University of Cologne.
The aim of the conference is to discuss the complete career path in biomedicine and health sciences beginning with undergraduate level, followed by the doctoral period and the subsequent transition phase. Special emphasis will be given to the impact of innovative doctoral educational programs and the training of physician scientists. International experts will present innovative strategies and concepts on the themes:
· Research training for medical and natural science students in biomedical research
· Perspectives for physician scientists of the 21st century
· Graduate programs for clinicians in biomedicine and health science
· Impact on innovations within doctoral education
As one major highlight Carla Nau (Lübeck - GER) will present the ORPHEUS Lecture ‘Challenges of becoming a physician scientist - a personal insight’ as our honorary guest speaker on March 10, 2016. The program also includes a debate session “Why we Do/Don’t need physician scientists’, a poster session for networking and four workshop sessions.
