Post - doctoral research assistantship, IAASARS Institute of the National Observatory of Athens

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research assistantship to work at the IAASARS Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, on the derivation of photometric redshifts using machine learning techniques for the 3XMM catalogue. This is a project funded within ESA’s PRODEX program.

A background in the derivation of photometric redshifts and/or X-ray Astronomy, as well as appropriate data analysis and programming skills are highly desirable.

The successful candidate will collaborate with X-ray astronomers at the National Observatory of Athens as well as the X-ray and Observational Astronomy group at the University of Leicester. The main research activities of the X-
ray group of the National Observatory of Athens focus on Active Galactic Nuclei detected using the XMM/Newton and Chandra missions.
